Frequently Asked Questions
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin treatment that uses very fine needles to break down old scar tissue and push cell generation. The production of new cells leads to new layers of elastin and collagen fibers which leads to improved blood flow in the skin.
How does Microneedling work?
Prior to the treatment numbing cream is applied to minimize any pain felt during the treatment. The Microneedling pen slides along the skin and penetrates the upper layer of the skin to create tiny needle wounds. This signals the body to produce collagen and elastin fibers. The skin becomes fuller, and reduces the appearance of scars, fine lines, and winkles.
What skin conditions does Microneedling treat?
Microneedling is known to improve mild to moderate acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, skin texture and pore size, and stretch marks.
What will my skin look like after Microneedling?
Downtime with Microneedling is quite short, most clients will notice a bit of redness and mild swelling (like a minor sunburn) for 24-48 hours. There may be slight pinpoint bleeding or bruising. Within a week or two skin will be smoother and more radiant. For full results it will take a few months to appear. The use of Hyaluronic acid after your treatment will reduce inflammation, and sunscreen is a must to protect skin from any further sun damage. Makeup should be limited to mineral makeup.
What is the aftercare like after getting Microneedling?
Skin may be red or feel dry for a few days after treatment. We recommend all clients protect their skin from the sun after treatment with the proper SPF. Make sure to wash your face in the morning and at night before bed, especially if you wear makeup. After about two weeks the skin will be noticeably rejuvenated, some clients goals may take longer depending on what you are working on.
Can Microneedling be performed on any skin color?
Yes, it is safe for all skin types and tones without risk of post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.
Is Microneedling painful?
At the start of the treatment numbing cream is applied to minimize the pain felt during the treatment.
Should I avoid putting certain topical products on my skin after Microneedling?
Yes, avoid putting any type of retinol, AHAs (Glycolic Acid), or active ingredients for 2-3 days after treatment. Avoid sun exposure at all cost and wear SPF daily even if you do not plan on leaving the house.
Microneedling is a procedure where mini needles are pricked into the skin causing intentional wounds to stimulate collagen production and form new skin.
